The Black Crowes Planning 2020 Reunion, Former Manager Says

Vegoose Music Festival - Day One

Five years after their second reunion fell apart due to a dispute between the famously-feuding brothers Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson, The Black Crowes are headed for another go-around, according to rumors.

The 30th anniversary of the Crowes' hit debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, is coming up in 2020.

While the Robinsons' prior split stemmed from a schism over dividing touring revenue, insiders tell The Wall Street Journal that a reunion tour coinciding with a milestone album anniversary ought to motivate the brothers to reconcile.

Former Black Crowes manager Pete Angelus told the newspaper that he was "aware of the deal that the brothers made with Live Nation for a 2020 tour." A spokesperson for Live Nation declined to comment.

Fans of the band are convinced that good news is coming. Even longtime drummer Steve Gorman is certain a reunion is in the works, though he says he hasn't been approached to rejoin the band.

There are plenty of stories about the Robinson brothers fighting like, well, the Gallagher brothers, but since breaking up their band in 2015, both Chris and Rich have started new bands that have embraced '90s nostalgia.

Rich formed The Magpie Salute (another avian reference) in 2016, with former Crowes members guitarist Marc Ford and bassist Sven Pipien.

Chris evoked his former band with his As The Crowe Flies group in 2018, which was put together with the express purpose of touring on Black Crowes' music with former members of the band.

Ford told Q104.3 New York's Out of the Box in a 2017 interview that former Black Crowes band members all share an "unexplainable" bond.

Two years later, Rich described the band's debut album as a "celebration" of the Black Crowes and of other music that was important to the band members.
