Dave Grohl Talks Switching It Up For The New Foo Fighter Album

posted by Ryan -

Foo Fighters decided to go against the grain in 2011 with "Wasting Light" by recording the record in Dave Grohl's garage, and using the old school reel to reel method! Then in 2014, they told 8 different stories of 8 different cities in 8 different songs with "Sonic Highways." AND you forget about their "Saint Cecilia" E.P. recorded in an Austin, Texas hotel lobby! So what unique, and creative way will the Foo Fighters write and record their 9th studio album?

Dave talked with Zane Lowe in a Beats 1 interview about their approach to the 9th album, more check out the interview @ alternativenation.net. Here's a portion of the interview transcribed by Alternative Nation....

Dave Grohl on switching it up for new Foo record.....

"So we were like, ‘God, if we were to record again, how are we going switch it up?’ For us to switch it up right now (whistles) would be to go into the studio and make a record like a normal band. That kind of became the focus, it was like alright, now that we can sort of shed that other stuff and just write songs and record them in a studio as you do.”
