Jack White brought his new album and tour, Boarding House Reach to the Baxter Arena last night, and for as much hype I personally put into this show, it exceeded my high expectations, and left my ears ringing, and my concert fix fulfilled. I hadn't seen a good concert since October, so I was due, and Jack brought his A game to Omaha, but it wasn't just Jack. It was his whole damn band! So on point, everyone playing off one and other, looking at each other after every song, waiting from the cue from Jack as to what song they would launch into next. Jack doesn't use set lists, and that's a big reason why last night's show, and all for this tour have a "No Phone Policy." Jack wants his audience engaged, so he knows if he needs to pick it up, or slow it down. It was Jack’s time in Omaha and all 18 songs played wonderfully off one and other. No "Icky Thump" No "Seven Nation Army," which, I'm sure pissed some people off, but I didn't care because 1. I saw him play those songs when he toured off his Blunderbuss release and 2. I've heard those songs SO MANY FRICKIN' TIMES, so it was cool with me. The one song that just blew me away though was "Steady As She Goes" a Raconteurs song. Not the biggest fan of it normally, but it was bluesier, funkier, trippier, and had such a heavier vibe instead of the poppy vibe the studio version offers. It was a big win for me. The things I didn’t like...well, yesterday I revealed 5 songs I wanted to hear...Respect Commander, Ball and Biscuit, Black Math, Level, and High Ball Stepper. He didn’t play any of them! WTF Jack! The Respect Commander LIVE version has been stellar, and my fav from the new record, and didn’t make the cut last night, so bummer, but I still give the show a high 8 out of 10. Top 10 show...maybe? Check out the set list, and the Omaha World Herald review below...thanks for reading, yeah I wrote this in a car, so I’m sure there’s errors , and yeah it’s one big long f’ing paragraph! Whatever!
Oh yeah! Below is also the Live version of Respect Commander! Man Up!
